Me, I had to go to Google and find a pinyinary… but once I found out what they were saying, I more than understood why they were saying it in Mandarin. Stupid censors.

I’ll never forget the first time I heard it on Firefly – I thought – did I just hear what I think I heard!??? Was pretty funny – especially since I didn’t have a PVR at the time, and I couldn’t rewind! haha. Not that I needed another reason to keep watching, but I certainly paid twice the attention to the dialogue until I had confirmed: Yup, he did just call him a monkey f$$ker. Amazing!

Hear hear, on every count. Serenity did amazingly well at the box office, especially considering how few people knew about Firefly before it, and a second installation would only do better. If nothing else, the grass-roots movement could easily launch it off, just like Brigid proposed… Hell, given then number of Flans out there, I think we could almost unilaterally get the movie on screens around the country, with or without Hollywood’s funding assistance.
Oh, and the primary reason I like swearing in Mandarin – no one has a bloody clue what you are saying. And it makes you sound all well-travelled and stuff.

Call me feng le, but anyone who says a second Serenity wouldn’t do well can gen houzi bi diou shi.
If we could only find one studio that wasn’t run by a qingwa cao de liumang, Whedon might actually have a chance.
As it is, ta pigu cao.
PS – Chinese rocks for swearing! Took 2 years of Mandarin, and the only words I remember are the more colorful ones. Well, that and how ask for a cup of tea, but what the cao is that good for!?

Hell, I could afford sending $10 a month his way – I would easily pass up going to the movies once a month if a new Serenity was in the future, and I can guarantee I am not alone.
Sadly, due to moves and other annoyances, I completely missed out on Dr. Horrible, but I guess that will just be another way to funnel money towards Joss when I buy the DVDs.

Whedon just needs to put up a blog page, with a tip jar. Heck, I think as many people want the sequel, we could buy him his own studio.
I did enjoy Dr. Horrible, but it’s not the same.
