Use a bookmark instead!
… Yeah, ok, that was pretty bad. Anywise, I admit, I have never really jumped on the whole social networking rocketship all that much. Granted, I do have a Facebook account, but that is primarily to keep in touch with some old college friends. Otherwise, I do not use del.icio.us, or Digg, or Reddit, or StumbleUpon, or any of those widgets… And, yeah, I know they are not all the same. But they all boil down to basically the same idea – spreading links and increasing traffic. Now, while I do not use those systems, I certainly understand the value of them – after all, increasing traffic is just about the goal of every webpage, right?
With that in mind, I signed up for AddThis.com, and have implemented their bookmarking tools on every post here in this weblog – and, not even 24 hours after the system was implemented, it has already been used on my post about MapQuest – kind of amazing turnaround, if you ask me. Anywise, what makes this particular service special? Well, go ahead and click on the link, why do you not? Barring that, clicking on the button allows you to bookmark the post it is attached to in a positively amazing number of options, all from one central location. Why do I say “amazing”? Well, 33 different options, all in one place, is pretty darned impressive, at least to my low standards.
So, if you like my post, feel free to bookmark it however you like – after all, this is a free country. I just thought I would provide you an easy way of doing it… my posts are looking a little ragged around the edges.
(Oh, and for clarification, no one paid me to write this post. I just find the service interesting and convenient enough to support it.)
