trackback kickoff

So I confess that I am not entirely sure how this system works, but I figured, in the continuing interest of increasing traffic to my site, I would give it a shot.  Basically, there exist trackback directories, of sorts, that specialize in providing a centralized location for listing all of the weblogs around the internet which host "open trackback" posts.  These posts are there simply to allow people to ping them with trackbacks, which results in a reciprocal link from the pinger - raising everyone's inbound link counts, and making everyone happy.  Yay PageRanks.  Regardless, Linkfest Haven and the Open Trackback Alliance are two of the larger collections out there, so I went ahead and joined up with them.  Or at least tried to...  As I said, I am none too sure how this entire process works, so I figured I would go ahead and generate a post with all of the appropriate links, and see what happens.  A little late in the day, granted, but...  There you are.  More substantative posts later (like possibly tomorrow).

When you registered with linkfest this is what I think you did: you right-clicked on your trackbacks(0) link and did a "copy shortcut" which gave you http://www.wallsofthecity.net/2007/03/trackback_kickoff_1.html#trackback and you put this in linkfest haven's form.

However this is not your true trackback URL. Next time simply copy and paste the line under "TrackBack URL for this entry:" which at this time is http://www.wallsofthecity.net/mt-tb.cgi/468.1464212852

I have pinged you from Hillary for 2008

Welcome to the club.

Ahah! You are correct, on both counts, Bernie. Like I said, still not entirely sure how the entire system works, but I am willing to push the "I believe" button to get a little more traffic now and then. I will be sure to use the appropriate link the future. Thanks for the clarification, the welcome, and the linkage!
