Alright, those of you who know me relatively well know that I am not too keen on keeping up with the news… Too many stupid inanities abound within it, like all of the airtime the whole Anna Nicole Smith thing has been receiving, and how much newscasters droned on and on about what people were wearing at the Oscars, and all that idiotic dren. Honestly, I do not give a flying fiddle about any of that, and so I have all but given up on broadcast news, and only occasionally check on news webpages. Yes, I know this is probably negligent of me, but considering just how much my job increases my blood pressure on a daily basis, you will have to excuse me if I do not voluntarily subject myself to yet even more pressure-increasing items.
However, that said, I do pick up a fair bit on what is going on in the world around me by the blogs I read on a relatively regular basis. Some of those I read on a more regular basis than others, and that is predominantly due to personal tastes and the rate at which their authors make additions, but it is just one of those things – I am sure everyone has their own patterns. One of the more infrequent blogs I read is War on Guns, a product of David Codrea – a relatively well-known name in the Second Amendment circles, from what I understand. In flipping through his various headlines and commentary on the idiocies of the American police, the anti-gun movement, and the other topics he frequents, I came across this particular article. I read through the excerpt, trying to find its relevance in what I knew of the world around me, and then read his one line beneath it… and my eyebrows went up.
The "North American Union"? Excuse me? Who else has heard of this, and why did they not tell me? And, for that matter, what in the blazing hell is it? Well, as the third link sums up nicely, it appears to be this:
For those readers who are still completely in the dark about the NAU, it is, simply put, the transformation of NAFTA (the North American Free Trade Agreement) into a full-blown economic and political merger of Canada, the United States, and Mexico. The advocates of the NAU are using an accelerated model of the deceptive process used to merge the countries of Europe into the European Union.
Ok… so where does that leave us? Well, it leaves me in a very faint pool of light, which is honestly somewhere I honestly hate to be, because it does not illuminate anything around me, but gives anyone else a perfect view of me. In short, I have just enough information to be concerned, but not enough to give me a clear picture of what is actually going on. I have a hard time believing that the situation could be nearly as bad as some of the doom-sayers would have you believe, but, at the same time, any and all attempt at dissolving, destroying, or otherwise diminishing a country that means so very much to me (namely, the United States of America)… well, that is not exactly something I can overlook. Additionally, the article to which Mr. Codrea linked, as well as the articles it links to, raises some very valid, and thought-provoking points, especially with my newfound attention on the Second Amendment (as well as its relation to all the rest), and the ways it has been assaulted in the past, and may be assaulted in the future. Needless to say, I will be doing some rather significant research into this matter in the future, and will be posting whatever interesting I find here.
Anywise, I apologize for the lack of posting recently, but Better Half swung by for an extended weekend visit, and she most assuredly takes priority. By way of a sight into things to come, however, I do believe I will be writing up a post on why the Second Amendment has found its way solidly into the center of my attention, especially given the number of posts on the topic I have written in the past. Just give me a little time… It will take me more than a bit to get my thoughts down on digital paper, and even longer to get them in good enough shape for publishing.

I have been bloging the North American Super Country and the North American Super Highway Toll Road for awille. It figured in the 06 Texas elections and we have bills in the Oklahoma house and senate limiting it to the dungheap. btw…great blog!
Checking my typekey. insert more praise here.
Good to hear that measures are being taken against it, but I am amazed how little it is making the news outside of those states… It, too, seems to be being snuck over the border.
