Well, unfortunately, rebuilding a blog is not quite as simple as uninstalling it, reinstalling it, and going back about your life. I was at least intelligent enough to save all of my entries and templates, so I did not have to regenerate all of those (I think if I did, I would have just shot myself, and saved myself the misery), but some of the stuff that was integral to the system was lost in the process. Among those things were a couple of plugins, Joon Lee’s FCKeditor and CCode/TCode.
To say that this man knows his Movable Type would be putting it very, very simply – these two plugins are remarkably fine pieces of work. The former is basically a complete replacement for the MT edit/create-post screen, providing you with on the fly, WYSIWYG text-editing, and a host of font styles and abilities that would not otherwise readily be available without a very solid background in (and memory of) HTML. The latter is an anti-spam system which, considering the fact that this blog has been rebuilt for less than 24 hours, and I already have spam, it would appear I need. It includes some manner of obfuscation code into the framework of commenting screens, as well as for trackbacks, though for the finer points in how it is constructed, I suggest you take a look at his page rather than listen to me ramble.
For any MT user out there, these two plugins would fall under the "must have" category – the installations are simple, and the instructions for doing so are perfectly comprehensive. Just having the option of their capabilities on-hand is enough, using them is even better.
