So it appears that blatant, unadulterated stupidity is a transmissable disease.
Ok, let me get this off my chest… I do not really like the Winter Games. Or rather, I do not like certain games… Especially the snowboarding style competitions, as it turns out. It is nothing against the competitors, it has nothing to do with nationalities, it really has nothing to do with the games themselves… Rather, I do not like the grading methods. They are far too subjective, far too open for interpretation, and obviously too easy to mess around with (as proven by the last round of Winter Games). I sat there and watched about an hour of the snowboard halfpipe competition, and honestly did not know what the judges were smoking. Granted, I am not exactly an expert when it comes to snowboarding, but I can sit there and compare the similiarities and differences between two performances… and based on those differences, I really could not figure out how the runs were graded. And then there is ice-skating…
Do not get me wrong – I love bobsledding, luging, and skeleton-ing (although the recent crashes on those have been somewhat horrific). But those have laser-trigger timers at the bottoms of the runs, and there is absolutely no disputing the outcome.
However, nowhere in my dislike for the Olympics does the topic of ethnicity factor in. You know, much like football, basketball, track-and-field, or any other sporting event where there is an obvious… disparity… in the ethnic makeup of the majority of the players. I do not care. Because, much like the Olympics, those athletes are chosen for their skill at their respective games, their abilities on the fields, and other qualities (size, speed, height, hand-eye coordination, etc.) that would make them effective at their chosen profession – playing a sport.
But, no, Gumbel, in his infinite idiocy, equates selection-by-skill to selection-by-ethnicity. *blink* Huh? So I should start complaining that there is a disproportionate number of "african americans" on the basketball floor down the road? No, that would make me a racist – silly me. Maybe I should say something about the problem of Africans dominating the running portions of the Summer Olympics… oh, wait, no, same "racist" problem. Do I really need to continue explaining just how stupid this stance is? Completely and utterly idiotic.
And do not even get me started on the whole problem of equating it to a "GOP convention"… That will bring up all manner of annoying little topics like how the Democrats basically keep the low-income blacks subjugated in a self-inflicted slavery by a friendly little program called "Welfare", and that is definitely a topic for another post…
Nagin and Gumbel deserve each other… Both of them are blazing racists, just not politically incorrect racists, so no one will even notice it. I guess the only good thing to come of this is that one is demonstrating just how moronic the mainstream media is, and the other is doing a beautiful job of demonstrating the finer aspects of the Democratic Party. I love it when people save me the trouble of showing how stupid they are.
