As you all may or may not know, I am a very strong fan of a now-cancelled television show by the name of “Firefly“, and its associated movie, Serenity. As in, I own both, have watched all 14 episodes of the former at least three times (some specific episodes more), and went to the movie twice while it was on the big screen. Not as bad as some people, I will definitely grant, but still a considerable fan.
Regardless, I, along with all of the other hardcore/partial/any-kind-of fans, was remarkably crushed when Fox, in its infinite stupidity, decided to cancel Firefly. I did everything I could at the time to resurrect the television show, but it was not to be. Then, when I heard wind of the movie, my universe was complete. Now, I hear wind that this may be the last one (heard a rumor before of a trilogy… now, not so sure), and I am a little disappointed. Do not get me wrong, Joss Whedon is an outstanding author, writer, director, and all that good stuff, but I was really hoping he would get the movie series rolling – it certainly has attracted more than enough attention, money, and all that good jazz.
Now, I simply enjoy getting word of the television series and movie out to the world, passing on whatever information I can to whatever boards I frequent, and telling all of my friends, family, and barely-acquaintances of the story. Additionally, CafePress has afforded me an entirely new and interesting way to get word out about the series.
The Philosophy of Firefly
As you may or may not be aware, the names mentioned in the above links are all characters within the series/movie, and are all members of the crew of Serenity, the ship around which the story revolves. Each has his or her own integral role to play, and their own respective perspectives, traits, and mannerisms to bring to the table. As such, each of those quips found on those above links were written to best represent the individual aspects of each of the characters, and CafePress allowed me to put all of the “philosophies” on almost any product I so desire.
Now, those of you who are more familiar with the storyline and thus the characters may have some disagreement with how I decided to sum up each of the characters, but you have to admit that this is a decent way to get the story and feeling of Firefly out, if nothing else
.
And that is what these products are meant to do. Yes, I do make a little profit off of them, but all good ideas (at least hopefully good ideas) should have some kind of pay-back, right? No good deed going unpunished and all that good stuff? And, yes, this post is nothing more than a self-aggrandizing beg for money, at least from one perspective. But it is also a further attempt to get the word of Firefly out… Maybe people know nothing about the show, and see the items for purchase with their funny little quips, and wonder what kind of show would create such an entertaining atmosphere. Maybe. I can hope, right?

Great idea! Helped me wake up this am, in fact. I’m actually looking fwd to the day when my girls 3 and 6 are old enough to watch Firefly…
